Madison, WI – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) issued the following statement after his bill, Assembly Bill 966, which requires the Department of Justice to conduct a children’s online digital safety awareness campaign about the potential dangers of the internet, passed the Assembly late last Friday:

“DOJ’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force already provides a range of digital safety resources for schools and parents, in coordination with the DOJ’s Office of School Safety and the Department of Public Instruction. This bill simply codifies that ongoing effort and directs the DOJ to carry out a statewide children’s online digital safety awareness campaign.

By strengthening this initiative, we reinforce Wisconsin’s commitment to protecting children and ensure families and schools have consistent, accessible education on online safety risks and prevention.”

AB 966 now heads to the Senate.

During the final days of session, Rep. Green also voted in favor of the following bills:

Senate Bill 23 – Extends Medicaid for postpartum women to 12 months.

Assembly Bill 117 – Requires the DNR to establish a Sandhill Crane hunting season.

Senate Joint Resolution 116 – A constitutional amendment that prohibits the governor from creating or increasing or authorizing the creation or increase of any tax or fee by partial veto.

Assembly Bills 130 and 131 – Legislation to address PFAS contamination.

Senate Bill 389 – Repeals the “400-year veto” issued by Governor Evers in the 2023–25 state budget that increased property taxes.
