Wausau, WI – A diverse coalition of over 50 elected officials, former elected leaders, and community leaders from across Wisconsin today announced their public endorsement of Yee Leng Xiong for State Treasurer.

This announcement underscores the growing momentum behind Yee’s campaign and solidifies him as the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for State Treasurer despite only entering the race six weeks ago.

“Yee Leng Xiong’s leadership skills, proven as an elected official on both the Marathon County Board and DC Everest School Board and as Executive Director of a nonprofit, will serve the people of Wisconsin well when he takes the helm as State Treasurer.  We need him in this critical position, someone who has not only proven his mettle in budgeting, but also deeply understands how levels of government can come together effectively to build strong communities, large and small.  I am grateful for his determined public service and wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy,” said Former Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton.

“Yee Leng Xiong has dedicated his life to serving our communities, as a school board member, county board supervisor, former village board member, and nonprofit executive. He understands how decisions made in Madison affect families, classrooms, and local governments across Wisconsin,” said State Representative Christine Sinicki. “I’m proud to endorse Yee Leng Xiong for State Treasurer because I know he will bring that same integrity, experience, and tireless work ethic to the job. Yee Leng will fight for you, protect your tax dollars, and ensure our state’s resources are invested wisely in the people of Wisconsin.”

Born in Wausau to refugee parents who fled persecution, Xiong learned early that freedom comes with responsibility. He has spent his career managing public resources and investing in communities at every level of government. In 2014, he made history as the first Hmong American elected to the DC Everest School Board, where he currently serves as Board Treasurer. Since 2016, he has served as Marathon County Supervisor, helping make tough budget decisions that impact local services and infrastructure. As Executive Director of the Hmong American Center, Xiong saved the organization from closure and grew its budget to $1.9 million, expanding services for families across the region. Xiong would be the first Hmong American elected to statewide office in Wisconsin.

The Democratic primary election for Wisconsin State Treasurer will be held on August 11, 2026, with the general election on November 3, 2026. To learn more about Yee Leng Xiong and his campaign, visit www.yeeforwi.vote.
