MADISON, Wis. — Last week, both chambers of Congress voted against resolutions to end military operations against Iran on largely party-line votes.
Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:
“The Constitution gives Congress the sole power to declare war. By voting against this resolution to end President Trump’s unauthorized war, federal Republicans have betrayed our Constitution and our country.
“The initial strikes against Iran included the bombing of a girls’ elementary school, which killed over 170 children and civilians. Of the over-1000 killed already, most have been civilians.
“This administration has stolen billions from Americans through tariffs while ending critical Medicaid programs, energy investments, food assistance, and cancer research. Now, they’ve spent over $5 billion in less than ten days in munitions, deployment costs, and chaos-fueled friendly-fire incidents.
“This war is mindless and horrific. Generations of humanity will suffer due to federal Republicans’ refusal to reign in a madman.”
