MILWAUKEE — A resolution authored by Supervisor Bielinski and co-sponsored by Supervisors Martinez, Rolland, Shea, Gómez-Tom, Taylor (District 17), Taylor (District 5), Vincent, O’Connor, Capriolo, Logsdon, Eckblad, and Martin unanimously advanced out of the Judiciary, Law Enforcement, and General Services Committee with aims to improve transparency and oversight of Milwaukee County contracts.
The advanced resolution directs the Milwaukee County Department of Administrative Services – Information Management Services Division (IMSD), in coordination with the Milwaukee County Office of Corporation Counsel, the Milwaukee County Office of the Comptroller, and DAS-Procurement, to develop a plan for a public-facing dashboard that would track contracts requiring County Board approval. The proposed dashboard would allow the public and policymakers to easily search and review key contract information, including total contract value, annual costs, start and end dates, renewals or extensions, contractor names, and the purpose of each agreement.
“The people of Milwaukee County deserve transparency and accountability from their government,” said Supervisor Bielinski. “As Board members, we take our oversight responsibility regarding taxpayer dollars very seriously. I am encouraged by the unanimous support in committee today for my ordinance creating a countywide, public-facing contracts dashboard. I look forward to its passage before the full Board this month and want to sincerely thank my colleagues for their partnership in this effort.”
If adopted, the Department of Administrative Services would be required to present a written report to the County Board by the June 2026 meeting cycle outlining a comprehensive plan for the dashboard, including its design, operational approach, required resources, and an estimated implementation timeline.
The resolution will now be considered by the Milwaukee County Board during its meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, Room 200. The meeting will also be available virtually via Microsoft Teams through the County Legislative Information Center.
