MADISON, Wis. – Sen. Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point) would like to thank his four Senate colleagues who are not seeking re-election in November for their long-standing commitment to serving the residents of Wisconsin.
Sen. Devin LeMahieu, who has been the Senate majority leader since the 2021-22 legislative session, announced today that he is not running for another term this fall.
Other state senators who recently declared that they will be stepping down are Sens. Van Wanggaard, Steve Nass and Rob Hutton. Sen. Wanggaard was first elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in 2010; Sen. Nass in 2014; and Sen. Hutton in 2022. Both Sens. Nass and Hutton served in the state Assembly for many years before they were elected to the Senate.
“Because of these four dedicated and hard-working senators, our legislative body has been able to deliver many positive results for the residents of our great state, including passing significant tax relief, cutting government red tape, strengthening the integrity of our elections and eliminating wasteful spending,” Sen. Testin said.
“All four will leave behind some rather big shoes to fill, but I am confident that our caucus is up to the challenge of forging ahead and continuing our work of making state government more efficient and less costly for taxpayers,” Sen. Testin added. “I consider them close friends and I wish them well in their future endeavors.”
