MADISON – Wisconsin Women in Government (WWIG) is proud to announce that Jill Karofsky, Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2026 WWIG Scholarship & Recognition Gala, taking place Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Monona Terrace in Madison.
The annual gala brings together professionals, public servants, and community leaders from across Wisconsin to celebrate leadership, public service, and the advancement of women in government. The evening will feature networking, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction supporting scholarships and leadership development initiatives, and recognition of outstanding women through the Rising Star Award and Legacy Award.
“We are honored to welcome Chief Justice Karofsky as our keynote speaker for this year’s gala,” said Emily Petersen, President of Wisconsin Women in Government. “Her career exemplifies a deep commitment to justice, public service, and leadership. WWIG is proud to highlight leaders like Chief Justice Karofsky who inspire women across Wisconsin to pursue and advance in public service.”
Chief Justice Karofsky has dedicated her career to public service and the pursuit of justice. Before joining the Wisconsin Supreme Court, she served as Executive Director of the Office of Crime Victim Services at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she worked to strengthen support systems for crime victims across the state. Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and as a prosecutor in Dane County.
In addition to the keynote address, the gala will highlight the achievements of women making a difference in public service. The Rising Star Award recognizes an emerging leader early in her career, while the Legacy Award celebrates a woman whose professional contributions have left a lasting impact on government and public service.
Proceeds from the gala support WWIG scholarships and leadership development opportunities that empower women pursuing careers in government and public service across Wisconsin.
