Maryjane Behm will immediately help reform and accountability efforts at IRG Action and IRG

Delafield, Wis. – Momentum at the Institute for Reforming Government (IRG) continues to grow as the organization announced that Maryjane “MJ” Behm has joined the organization as Deputy Director, Policy & Reform. She will also serve as Director of Government Affairs for IRG Action Fund, helping to expand the organization’s presence and impact at the state Capitol. Behm has a strong background in the legislative branch after working in the Wisconsin State Capitol for over five years.

WHY IT MATTERS:

In this role, Behm will support IRG’s mission to promote accountable, limited, and effective government. Her work will include leading policy research, advancing oversight initiatives, and helping develop reforms that increase transparency and improve how the government serves Wisconsin residents. She will also play a key role in strengthening IRG’s government affairs strategy and legislative engagement.

THE QUOTES:

“We’re excited to welcome MJ to our team,” said CJ Szafir, CEO of the Institute for Reforming Government. “Her work ethic and commitment to government accountability make her a strong addition as we hold government accountable and develop the next wave of conservative reforms.”

“I’m honored to join IRG and contribute to its work to strengthen transparency and accountability in Wisconsin,” said Behm. “We have seen government programs use taxpayer dollars frivolously. If we want Wisconsin to be a great place to live and work, we need our government to use our money efficiently and effectively.”

ABOUT MJ:

Behm brings several years of experience in state government and public policy. Prior to joining IRG full-time, she worked in the Wisconsin State Capitol for State Representative Clint Moses, where she served as a research assistant and clerked the Assembly Health, Aging and Long-Term Care Committee. In that role, she developed expertise in legislative process, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Behm also has experience in managing campaigns and as a substitute high school teacher. She can be reached at MB@reforminggovernment.org

Behm is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics and currently resides in the Fox Valley.
