WI-08 Congressional Candidate and 20-Year Army Veteran Says Catastrophe Demands Honest Reckoning — Not a Sales Pitch

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Last night’s presidential address on the Iran conflict offered Americans a performance rather than a plan. Lt. Colonel Rick Crosson (U.S. Army, Ret.), a 20-year military veteran and candidate for Congress in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, released the following statement:

Last night, we watched a president attempt to spin a catastrophe of his own making.

What does the world have to show for this war? A clogged global supply chain. Worldwide economic instability. Allies pushed further away. Thousands of deaths, injuries, and displaced people, including at least 13 dead American service members. Some of those families are Wisconsinites. And still, no clear path out of a mess that did not have to happen. This is, in every sense of the word, a catastrophe.

It should not have taken this much failure to finally see the light. Catastrophe does present opportunity, but only if the alternative is true and genuine. Disaffected people need somewhere real to go. Today, more people are moving away from the false promises, lies, and dysfunction that define this moment in Washington, including a Congress that has abdicated its constitutional responsibility to authorize this war. Moving away from something, however, does not automatically mean moving toward something better.

That better opportunity starts here in the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin.

As I go around our district meeting the good people of Northeast Wisconsin, I am building real relationships. These are not staged, one-time meetings. I am joining their groups, listening to their concerns, and I am encouraged by our shared values of decency and honesty, as well as by our willingness to confront the root causes of the discontent tearing at the fabric of this country. We have significant work ahead and real fights to win.

I am uniquely qualified to be the fighting congressman this district needs. Among everything that defines who I am, my oath to support and defend the Constitution is the rock upon which I stand. My life is committed to that end.
