Madison, WI – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) issued the following statement after his two of his bills, Assembly Bills 238 and 239, were signed into law earlier today:

Assembly Bills 238 and 239 are crucial into supporting our effort for search and rescue K9 teams across Wisconsin. AB 238 would ensuring consistent lodging access for search and rescue teams and their K9s traveling in Wisconsin.

AB 239 would prohibit harassing, threatening, or physically harming search and rescue K9s. These K9s re often deployed in dangerous and high-stress situations, from natural disasters to wilderness searches. Extending existing protections to include search and rescue dogs acknowledges their vital role in public safety. It ensures that anyone who intentionally injures or threatens them is held accountable.

These volunteers and their K9s play a critical role in keeping our communities safe. It’s time we give them the recognition and support they deserve.”

Assembly Bill 238 is now 2025 Wisconsin Act 151.

Assembly Bill 239 is now 2025 Wisconsin Act 152.
