MADISON, Wis. — During tonight’s state supreme court debate, right-wing puppet Maria Lazar tried to hide her extreme anti-choice agenda. Tonight, she falsely claimed that abortion is not on the ballot this year and that she would support the 20-week compromise — but her own record proves otherwise. Earlier this year, Lazar stated she would support more restrictive abortion laws if the legislature passed them.

The Facts:

Lazar Said She Would Support Abortion Restrictions If The Legislature Passed Them. “So my view is, if the citizens of my state say they want to move that line from 20 to 18 or 20 to 22 and they get their elected officials to do it and they do it in the right way, then who am I to say anything else?” [Marquette Law Panel, 2/17/26]Lazar Said She Will Follow 20 Week Abortion Ruling Despite Saying She Would Support Stronger Restrictions. “Saying that I will follow the decision made by the state Supreme Court, which is a 20 week compromise, because it is the law and it’s a precedent. My personal views aside, because it’s not something I would choose.” [Wolf River Patriots, 2/23/26]
