MADISON, Wis. — Today, Wisconsin will decide the future of our Supreme Court. Their choice is principled Judge Maria Lazar or Anti-victim Chris Taylor.

As we await the results of this election, it is important to remember that Judge Maria Lazar stands as a principled conservative committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring courts remain fair and independent. Compared to Chris Taylor, whose legislative record demonstrates a troubling pattern of opposition to measures designed to safeguard crime victims and vulnerable communities, turning her back on her own ethics, and pushing for judicial activism.

Key examples from Taylor’s record include:

  • In 2016, Taylor voted against Assembly Bill 497, which would have prohibited sexually violent offenders from residing near their victims or within 1,500 feet of schools, child care facilities, youth centers, places of worship, or public parks.
  • In both 2017 and 2019, Taylor opposed Marsy’s Law, which Wisconsin voters overwhelmingly approved in 2020 by a 75% margin. The measure enshrined 16 new rights for crime victims, including dignity, respect, protection from the accused, and timely notification of an offender’s release or escape.
  • In 2019, Taylor voted against Assembly Bill 804, legislation that increased penalties for individuals who intimidate or harass domestic violence victims.
  • As a legislator, Taylor co-authored bills requiring tampon and sanitary napkin availability in all state-owned restrooms, including men’s facilities and school restrooms, and fought against making bathrooms single-sex.
  • Last year, Chris Taylor turned her back on her own ethics bill that would have required judges to recuse themselves from cases involving donors who gave $1,000 or more to their campaigns. Clearly, campaign money means more than her own morals.
  • Now, news has surfaced that Chris Taylor has repeatedly violated a judicial ethics rule she introduced by repeatedly ruling on cases involving the Sierra Club, a group with which she has deep ties and which she has received donations.
  • Lastly, in a recommendation letter, Chris Taylor enthusiastically endorsed radical Democrat Lena Taylor for a judgeship precisely because of her “continued advocacy” for liberal causes, admitting that ideological activism belongs on the bench.

Wisconsin deserves a Supreme Court justice who prioritizes impartial interpretation of the law and public safety over partisan agendas. Judge Maria Lazar has consistently demonstrated that commitment through her judicial service, while Chris Taylor proves time and time again that she cares more about far-left interests than the values of Wisconsinites.
