Madison, WI – Tonight, Ellen Zhang was elected as the next District 8 Alder to represent the campus seat on the Madison Common Council. Alder-Elect Zhang released the following statement:

“Tonight, the voters of District 8 have spoken, and I am deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me. This campaign was powered by an incredible community: everyone who knocked doors, made calls, donated, or simply believed in what we were building together. Thank you.

We ran on real issues because they are real. Students are struggling to afford rent. Our neighbors deserve reliable transit and safe streets. Every student deserves to live with dignity and have access to resources they need. That work starts now.

“I’m excited to get to work delivering on these priorities and building a district that works for everyone. This is just the beginning. I’m ready to get to work for District 8 and for the Madison we all deserve!”
