The following is a statement from Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes in response to Tom Tiffany’s comment that the GOP “got our butts kicked” after Justice Chris Taylor’s historic victory in the Supreme Court race:
“Tom Tiffany is running on the exact same playbook as Maria Lazar—defending an abortion ban that puts women’s lives at risk and standing behind Donald Trump’s attacks on democracy at every turn.
“Wisconsinites could have not made it clearer how they feel about that last night.
“Wisconsin elected a fighter to the Supreme Court who will be a critical check of power against Trump’s unlawful attacks on the people of this state.
“This fall, we have the chance to reject Trump and his other hand-picked Wisconsin candidates, including Tom Tiffany.
“I’ll stand up to Trump and MAGA Republicans trampling on the Constitution and the rule of law. I’ll stop his tariffs from killing Wisconsin family farms and small businesses. And I’ll make sure the ultra-wealthy finally pay their fair share while cutting taxes for middle-class families.
“Last night was a big win—but our work isn’t done, we’re keeping our foot on the gas.”
