Madison – Representative Duke Tucker (R-Grantsburg) celebrated the passage of two key pieces of legislation ensuring Wisconsin veterans and active servicemembers receive proper recognition and accommodation. The bills, authored by Rep. Tucker this session, are Senate Bills 134 & 810, signed into law as Acts 204 and 206.

Act 204 extends the open enrollment window for residency changes resulting from military orders from 30 days to 90 days. This removes the burdensome time crunch created by the 30-day deadline and allows parents, children, teachers, and administrators more flexibility in an already hectic and unpredictable scenario.

Act 206 increases the reimbursement limit for military funeral honors from $50 to $100, the first increase in over two decades, providing genuine support for veterans service organizations that already serve their communities in a multitude of ways.

“For too many years, the issues addressed in these bills have been ongoing and unresolved. It was great to work with other legislators and the governor in a bipartisan way to get these bills signed into law.” Rep. Tucker commented.

The representative’s office is located in Room 418 North at the Wisconsin State Capitol. He may be reached at (608) 237-9175 or by email at Rep.Tucker@legis.wisconsin.gov.
