Milwaukee, WI. April 9, 2026—  The Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance (WMCA) Condemns Anti-Muslim and Violent Rhetoric from Brookfield Alderman

The Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance (WMCA) is deeply disturbed by a series of public comments made by Brookfield Alderman Kristian Seals, which include anti-Muslim rhetoric, xenophobic language, and statements that appear to endorse violence.

These comments, ranging from dehumanizing language toward Muslims and immigrants to explicit references to violence, are not only offensive but also dangerous. When elected officials use their platform to spread fear, hatred, or division, it undermines public trust and threatens the safety and dignity of entire communities.

Public servants have a responsibility to represent all constituents with respect and integrity. The rhetoric displayed here falls far short of that standard.

“At a time when communities are already facing increased fear and uncertainty, this kind of language from an elected official is unacceptable and harmful,” said Fauzia Qureshi, Executive Director of WMCA. “Leaders should be working to bring people together, not fueling division or normalizing violence.”

WMCA call for:

  • A clear and public acknowledgment of the harm caused by these statements
  • Accountability measures from local leadership
  • A reaffirmation of Brookfield’s commitment to inclusion, safety, and respect for all residents

We also stand in solidarity with those impacted by this rhetoric and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that Wisconsin remains a place where all people, regardless of faith or background, are treated with dignity and respect.
