SHELBY, WI — Today, Representative Tara Johnson (D- Town of Shelby) announced she will be seeking a second term in the Wisconsin Assembly. She released the following statement:

“For the last two years, it has been an honor to represent the 96th Assembly District in Madison. This district is 850 beautiful square miles which stretch from the mighty Mississippi to the banks of the Kickapoo River. It is where I worked, where Tim and I raised our children, and the place I have called home for nearly 40 years. I am running for re-election because there is more work to be done to deliver for the people of the Driftless region, as well as our air, water and land.

“While there were some major accomplishments this session, of which I am very proud, there were not enough. In my first term I have fought hard for the people of the driftless region to reduce the cost of living, increase access to healthcare, and fund public education. Robin Vos and the Republican majority have blocked almost all progress. When democrats are in the majority, true progress will be made in making life more affordable for Wisconsin families. A Democratic majority starts with my re-election.

“I am running because I am not done fighting for the voters of the 96th Assembly District.”

Representative Johnson is available for interviews to discuss the race and her first term in the Assembly. To reach out to the Johnson campaign or to speak with Tara directly, email Raymond@taraforwisconsin.com or call 262-388-5597.
