State Senator Kelda Roys has earned the Wisconsin Education Association Council’s recommendation in the fall 2026 election for Governor of Wisconsin.
WEAC President Peggy Wirtz-Olsen released the following statement about Senator Roys and WEAC’s recommendation:
“Senator Kelda Roys is a leader who has done her homework on solutions to the school funding crisis, and she has a broad, deep base of knowledge in labor and Wisconsin public education. She has a great track record of collaboration and responsiveness, and she has proven that she wants to listen, learn, and partner with public school professionals. She’s passionate about us and about who we are as teachers and support professionals.
“The members of the WEAC Political Action Committee, representing local union members and public education employees throughout Wisconsin, emphasized Senator Roys’ core values of preparedness, courage, equity, and authentic partnership, all of which align with our union’s priorities for students and the education professions.”
In response to news of WEAC’s recommendation, Senator Kelda Roys said, “Every kid deserves what I got as a kid in rural Taylor County, the best public education in the country. I am deeply humbled to earn WEAC’s endorsement and eager to work alongside all Wisconsinites as we build a state where every kid has the freedom to thrive.”
