MADISON, Wis. — A recent letter to the editor held GOP candidate for governor Tom Tiffany accountable for his record of failing Wisconsinites and making life more unaffordable for working people. The letter highlights Tiffany’s vote jeopardizing healthcare for tens of thousands of Wisconsinites while he also abandons farmers, small businesses and ordinary people as they struggle to make ends meet under tariffs, inflation and war-related price hikes caused by Tiffany-backed policies.
Wisconsin State Journal: Tom Tiffany Hasn’t Shown He Cares About Wisconsin
By: Thomas Alisankus
- A recent TV ad by U.S. Tom Tiffany, R-Hazelhurst, the likely Republican candidate for governor, tells us he once milked cows, supports all Wisconsin sports teams and enjoys old fashioneds. And his mother still quilts. Congratulations. But what has he done for everyday Wisconsinites?
- For starters, Tiffany voted to eliminate tax credits that made healthcare possible for tens of thousands of Wisconsin citizens. Tiffany has done nothing to curtail the crippling effects of tariffs on our farmers, small businesses and ordinary citizens in Wisconsin.
- He hasn’t helped to reduce inflation, which cost Wisconsinites more than $2,200 this year — nor to address the rising prices of fuel and fertilizer because of President Donald Trump’s war of choice in Iran. This will further adversely affect farmers and likely result in even higher food prices for all of us.
- As a representative, Tiffany has shown no interest in independently advancing issues important to Wisconsin. Would he be any different as governor? He has voted with Trump nearly 100% of the time, which can’t be good for a purple state like Wisconsin. Instead of highlighting his accomplishments, he mused about his fondness for old fashioneds and his mother’s quilting. I think I know why.
