MUSKEGO, Wis. — Wisconsin Secretary of State candidate Pete Karas today announced the May 2026 Grift and Spend Award will be jointly awarded to the Republican Party and the Democratic Party for their shared commitment to waste, endless war, and debt.

“Republicans and Democrats put on a fake fight for the cameras, but when it comes to wasting money, funding endless war, and driving the country deeper into debt, they work together just fine,” Karas said.

Karas said both parties have spent decades borrowing trillions, feeding insiders, and treating taxpayers like an endless ATM.

“It took four presidents, over $2 trillion, and 20 years to replace the Taliban with the Taliban,” Karas said. “That tells you everything you need to know about the foreign policy genius of the two-party system.”

Karas said the cost of that failure came while Americans faced urgent problems at home.

“All while we have a homelessness crisis, a broken healthcare system, and failing infrastructure,” Karas said. “Washington always has money for war, bailouts, and politically connected interests. But for the American people, we are told to wait.”

Karas warned that the country cannot keep piling up debt forever without putting the dollar at risk.

“You cannot spend borrowed trillions forever and expect the dollar to stay strong,” Karas said. “At some point, the bill comes due.”

Karas said both parties have earned the award for turning fiscal irresponsibility into a bipartisan tradition.

“If they do not like the award, they can stop bankrupting the country,” Karas said. “Until then, they can share the trophy.”
