MADISON – Representative Dan Knodl released the following statement regarding the recently announced agreement between Republican legislative leaders and Governor Evers on tax relief and state funding priorities:

“Republican majorities in the Wisconsin Legislature are once again proving that responsible government and taxpayer relief can go hand in hand. This week’s deal between legislators and the Governor delivers meaningful property tax relief for Wisconsin families while continuing to fund education at historic levels and increasing support for special education reimbursement. For years, Republicans have argued that Wisconsin can invest in classrooms and local communities without overburdening taxpayers, and this agreement proves it.

“This plan also returns surplus dollars to the hardworking people who created them in the first place. Wisconsin families, workers, farmers, retirees, and small businesses should be able to keep more of what they earn. Republicans also secured a path forward for ‘No Tax on Tips’ and ‘No Tax on Overtime,’ building on the federal tax relief efforts that benefit working Americans. Whether it’s a nurse picking up an extra shift, a server working weekends, or a police officer working overtime to keep communities safe, Wisconsin workers deserve to keep more of their paycheck.

“Lower taxes and responsible spending continue to strengthen Wisconsin’s economy and provide the long-term revenues needed to fund priorities like education, infrastructure, and public safety. At the end of the day, this compromise reflects Wisconsin common sense: support working families, invest in core priorities, and respect taxpayers by making government live within its means.”
