GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) and Pilotsmith are inviting young aviation enthusiasts to explore the world of flight through the upcoming GRB Aviation Camp, a hands-on educational experience designed to introduce students to careers in aviation, aerospace and STEM-related industries.
The camp will provide participants with immersive aviation experiences including flight simulation, aircraft familiarization, aviation science activities and opportunities to learn directly from aviation professionals. The program is designed to inspire the next generation of pilots, mechanics, air traffic controllers, engineers and airport professionals while showcasing the growing opportunities available throughout the aviation industry.
“Programs like the GRB Aviation Camp are critical to building the future workforce of aviation,” said Pilotsmith President Charlie Smith. “Aviation is more accessible than ever before, and we want students to see the incredible opportunities available to them, whether they dream of becoming a pilot, technician, engineer or working in airport operations. This camp gives young people a chance to experience aviation firsthand and begin imagining a future in the industry.”
According to industry leaders, demand for aviation professionals continues to grow nationwide as airlines, airports and aerospace companies work to fill a pipeline of future talent.
“At GRB, we see aviation as more than transportation. It is a pathway to lifelong careers and economic opportunity,” said GRB Airport Director Marty Piette. “By partnering with Pilotsmith on programs like this, we are helping students connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and introducing them to the many rewarding careers that keep airports and airlines operating every day.”
Pilotsmith, headquartered at GRB, has become one of the fastest-growing flight training organizations in the Midwest and serves hundreds of students annually through its training programs.
“Brown County is proud to support initiatives that invest in workforce development and create opportunities for young people across our region,” said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “The aviation industry offers high-demand, high-skill careers that are essential to the future of transportation and commerce. Programs like the GRB Aviation Camp help inspire the next generation while strengthening Northeast Wisconsin’s role in the aviation industry.”
The camp reflects the ongoing partnership between GRB and Pilotsmith to expand aviation education and career awareness opportunities throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
