Retired Police Chief Hagstrom on Sapik, “No one will work harder”

[Lake Nebagamon, WI…]  The Sapik for Senate campaign today announced the endorsement of Bill Hagstrom, former Police Chief of the City of Ashland.

Chief Hagstrom served as Chief of Police for the Ashland Police Department for six years, and he spent a total of 32 years in law enforcement.  He started his tenure with the Ashland Police Department in 1996 and retired as Chief on May 1. He previously served with the Ashland County Jail.

“Angie Sapik will put the safety and security of Northwestern Wisconsin families first.  She will fight to fund mental health programs to ensure our neighborhoods and communities are free of drugs and violent crime. Her respect for law enforcement and passion for corrections is sorely needed in the legislature. I strongly endorse Angie Sapik’s campaign,” said Chief Hagstrom.

Sapik, a former state Representative and Douglas County Supervisor, has rolled out an impressive number of endorsements for her state Senate campaign including members of Wisconsin’s law enforcement community.

“I’m thankful to have Chief Hagstrom’s endorsement and support, and I’m especially honored to be law enforcement’s choice for this critical state senate seat,” said Sapik.  “Public safety is the first responsibility of government, and I will fight tooth-and-nail to provide our partners in law enforcement the tools they need to help keep Wisconsin families safe and secure.”

Sapik previously released the endorsement of former Wisconsin Attorney General JB Van Hollen who served as the state’s “Top Cop” as well as District Attorney for both Ashland County and Bayfield County.

Joining Van Hollen and Hagstrom in endorsing Sapik is Washburn County Sheriff Dennis Stuart. Sheriff Stuart served as Washburn County’s sheriff for eight years.

In addition, Sapik has been endorsed by 16 current and former state legislators.  She was an official 2024 Trump elector and was elected to the state Assembly in 2022 serving one term representing the 73rd Assembly District. She was then elected to the Douglas County Board of Supervisors in 2024.
