The Campaign for America First International Assistance announced a six-figure ad campaign thanking GOP U.S. Reps. Bryan Steil and Derrick Van Orden for supporting international aid.

The effort includes cable, connected TV and digital ads, as well as texting and billboards. The 501(c)(4) had reserved $72,530 in Steil’s 1st CD and $58,600 in Van Orden’s 3rd CD as of this afternoon, according to AdImpact.

An ad supporting Van Orden says the Prairie du Chien Republican is “working hard for Wisconsin farmers, delivering funding to save millions of starving children with food produced on Wisconsin farms, strengthening America and our economy in southwestern Wisconsin.”

The narrator asks viewers to thank Van Orden for “investing in Wisconsin farmers and supporting lifesaving international aid.”

In a spot backing Steil, R-Janesville, a voice-over says a child dies every day from malaria.

“To prevent deadly diseases like malaria from reaching our shores, Rep. Bryan Steil delivered millions for Wisconsin’s top research centers, funding medical breakthroughs, strengthening Wisconsin’s economy,” the voice-over says. “And Rep. Steil is investing in Wisconsin farmers, feeding millions of starving children with food produced on our farms.”

The Trump administration dismantled the U.S. Agency for International Development, known as USAID, last year, leading to cuts to foreign aid, including programs aimed at fighting hunger and combating disease abroad.

According to CAFIA’s website, it “unites American farmers, manufacturers, faith groups, and local industries to deliver international assistance that protects jobs, strengthens local economies, and shares American compassion globally.” Executive Director Nate Soule is a former aide to U.S. Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y.
