7th CD Dem candidate Ginger Murray has a new ad in which she wields a shotgun as she promises to “blast tax breaks for billionaires.”

“Like many of you, I am fed up with the federal government cutting taxes for billionaires while cutting services for people in the Northwoods,” Murray says in the 30-second spot.

The family law attorney picks up a shotgun and levels it at a piggy bank labeled “BILLIONAIRE TAX BREAKS,” declaring “It’s past time to blast tax breaks for billionaires” before obliterating the piggy bank.

The spot first aired on Monday.

AdImpact reports the New Lisbon resident is spending $19,304 on broadcast and CTV through the week of March 19, including $3,074 last week. It’s the first ad buy from a 7th CD Democratic candidate reported by AdImpact.

Murray is running in a three-way primary against former state Rep. Fred Clark and small business owner Chris Armstrong.

Across the aisle, Wausau financial adviser and GOP candidate Kevin Hermening is spending $51,776 over the next four weeks on a cable TV ad buy.

AdImpact has not picked up the new spot, but Hermening’s campaign uploaded a 30-second video to YouTube on Monday calling Hermening “battle-tested” and highlighting his service as one of the Marines captured during the Iran hostage crisis.

A Hermening spokesperson declined to confirm whether the new spot would be broadcast as part of the ad buy.

Ad spending in the 7th CD has thus far been dominated by the Northwoods Future PAC, which has spent some $1.8 million backing Republican Michael Alfonso, son-in-law of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

The Northwoods PAC has spent $621,616 backing fellow GOP contender Jessi Ebben, a director for Ashley Furniture. That includes a new filing detailing $29,309 on direct mail.
