MADISON – Last week, the Wisconsin State Building Commission awarded funding to community development projects from around the state through the Non-State Grant Program. State Representative Joan Fitzgerald (D-Fort Atkinson) celebrated the approval of funds for two community projects with significant positive impact for the people of the 46th Assembly District:
- Badgerland After School Enrichment Program Inc. (BASE) received $800,000 for the BASE Future Home Community Center.
- The Rock River Community Clinic Inc. received $330,000 for the Moving Upstream: 2025-2026 Capital Campaign for Rock River Community Clinic.
In celebrating these funding approvals, Representative Fitzgerald issued the following statement:
“These funding awards provide significant investments for the 46th District. They support projects that will make long-term impacts and strengthen the health of our communities.
“With their new funding, BASE will be able to finish remaining construction and readiness projects for their new community center in Fort Atkinson, including outfitting youth classrooms, installing technology infrastructure, equipping the commercial kitchen, and implementing critical safety and security systems. With these projects completed, the new community center will be able to support vital afterschool and childcare programs long into the future.
“The funds awarded to the Rock River Community Clinic will support the opening of a new integrated health clinic in Johnson Creek and the expansion of the existing clinic in Whitewater. These initiatives will expand access to affordable, quality, and comprehensive healthcare in our region. Under-resourced families who would otherwise go without care will now be able to get the healthcare they need.
“Thank you to BASE and the Rock River Community Clinic for your incredible work. I cannot wait to see what great things you are able to do for our communities in the future.”
