Milwaukee, WI: The Jewish Caucus of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is horrified and heartbroken by today’s violent attack on a Islamic Center of San Diego. We unequivocally condemn this act of hate and stand in full solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters mourning this senseless violence.
As Jews, we know too well what it means to be targeted in our houses of worship, schools, and religious centers. The memory of recent attacks on religious institutions of all backgrounds reminds us that hate directed at any faith community is a threat to all of us. An attack on a mosque is an attack on all people of conscience.
We call on federal, state, and local officials to swiftly investigate this attack, prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law, and take every necessary step to protect houses of worship across our country.
We will not be divided. We will not be silenced. And we will not rest until every community can worship, learn, and gather in peace and safety.
