Eau Claire, WI — On Saturday, May 9, the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted the Wisconsin statewide competition of the 2026 National Civics Bee, bringing together outstanding middle‑school students from across the state to demonstrate their civic knowledge, critical thinking, and commitment to community issues.
The event began with two 10‑question multiple‑choice rounds, testing students on core civics concepts, government structure, and public policy. Five finalists advanced to the live on‑stage portion of the competition. During this final round, students presented their essays to a panel of judges and responded to follow‑up questions designed to assess their critical thinking, communication skills, and understanding of real‑world civic issues.
After an impressive and highly competitive program, Georgia C. was named the first‑place statewide winner. Her essay focused on solar energy, and her thoughtful analysis, strong presentation, and confident responses distinguished her among a talented group of finalists.
The Chamber also congratulates the other top competitors:
- Second Place: Vivaan B.
- Third Place: Eleanor T.
As the Wisconsin champion, Georgia will advance to the National Civics Bee Finals in Washington, D.C., where she will represent the state on a national stage.
The Eau Claire Chamber extends heartfelt congratulations to Georgia and sincere appreciation to the judges — Leila C., Jason Plante, Abby Fisk, Representative Jodi Emerson, and Senator Jesse James — as well as our emcee, Bob Gallaher. The Chamber also thanks all volunteers, educators, families, Kwik Trip, and Visit Eau Claire the support made this statewide event
possible. Their commitment helps inspire and empower the next generation of engaged citizens.
