De Pere, WI — De Pere resident and working mom Katie Baney today announced her candidacy for the Wisconsin State Senate in the 1st District following the retirement of State Senator André Jacque.

“I grew up in the Ledgeview De Pere area, and my husband and I are raising our children here,” said Baney. “As a mom, I refuse to sit on the sidelines while political dysfunction threatens the values and opportunities that make northeastern Wisconsin special. After prayerful consideration and encouragement from my family and community, I’m running to ensure this district remains the best place in Wisconsin to raise a family.”

Baney returned to De Pere with her husband in 2021 to start their family after working in the U.S. House and Senate. Katie worked for Chairman Ron Johnson on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Speaker Ryan, and for Chairman Mike Rogers on the House Homeland Security Committee. She has spent the last five years in the private sector working for Delta Defense LLC, the service provider for the United States Concealed Carry Association, advocating for responsible gun owners and our constitutional freedoms.

“I will be laser-focused on delivering results on the issues that matter most to Wisconsin families: lowering the cost of living and tax burden, protecting parental rights and medical freedom, strengthening community safety, growing jobs, solving workforce challenges, and preventing classroom indoctrination.”

Dedicated to faith, family, and freedom, Baney will fight to protect life, free speech, and deliver real results for northeastern Wisconsin.

“It’s an incredible blessing to live in this country as we celebrate 250 years of American freedom and values. I look forward to meeting with voters across the district and earning their trust,” Baney added. “We have real work to do in Madison, and sometimes it just takes a mom to get it done.”
