MILWAUKEE – County Executive David Crowley is celebrating Pride Month and recognizing the many contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Today, County Executive Crowley, Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson-Bovell, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Milwaukee Alderman Peter Burgelis, and local leaders, advocates, and partners kicked off Pride Month during a flag raising ceremony at the Milwaukee County Courthouse. Crowley also proclaimed the month of June as Pride Month across Milwaukee County. The County Executive looks forward to joining the LGBTQIA+ community this weekend at PrideFest at Henry Maier Festival Park and the Pride Parade in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood.
“I believe Milwaukee County is a place where everyone deserves dignity, respect, safety, and the freedom to live as their authentic selves. But progress does not happen by accident. It happens because people choose to speak up, organize, and stand together,” said County Executive Crowley. “While we celebrate Pride Month, we also recognize there is still work ahead in the march for equity, equality, and justice for all. To our LGBTQIA+ neighbors, friends, coworkers, and families: we celebrate you, we support you, and we are proud to stand alongside you. Happy Pride Month, Milwaukee County!”
