MILWAUKEE – Today, Judge Nathan Petrashek is launching his campaign to continue serving on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District I, bringing more than 16 years of appellate court experience and a longstanding commitment to fairness, integrity, and public service to Milwaukee’s courts.

From small-town kid to highly respected jurist, Judge Nathan Petrashek’s story is one of courage, determination and hard work. With unprecedented attacks on our democratic institutions and rights, those qualities are more important than ever in our judges.

Appointed by Governor Tony Evers to represent all of Milwaukee County on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, Judge Petrashek has dedicated his career to ensuring Wisconsin’s courts work fairly and effectively for everyone. Through hundreds of appellate cases he worked on before being appointed as a judge, he strived to ensure every person who comes before the court received a full and fair opportunity to be heard and thoughtful consideration under the law.

“I have spent my career committed to fairness, impartiality, and the rule of law,” said Judge Petrashek. “Serving asa Court of Appeals Judge is a tremendous honor, and I’m seeking to continue that service because I believe people deserve a judicial system that treats everyone with dignity, applies the law fairly, and inspires confidence in our courts.”

Judge Petrashek brings broad experience to the bench, having worked on cases across nearly every area of law, including constitutional law, family law, criminal procedure, and personal injury matters. Beyond his work on the Court, he has also been deeply involved in efforts to strengthen Wisconsin’s legal community and improve access to justice.

Nathan has spoken regularly at judicial education and bar association programs, contributed scholarship and legal writing, and helped establish attorney education focused on cultural competency and reducing bias in the legal system.

His commitment to service extends beyond the courtroom. Inspired by the dedication of local election workers serving their communities, and with our community facing false attacks on election integrity after the 2020 election, Nathan volunteered as an election inspector to help ensure every qualified voter had the opportunity to cast a ballot.

A first-generation college graduate, Judge Petrashek earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay before graduating from Marquette University Law School. He lives in Glendale with his wife and son.

“Public service has always been at the center of my career,” said Judge Petrashek. “I would be honored to continue serving Milwaukee County and upholding the values of fairness, equal justice, and integrity on the Court of Appeals.”
