WAUKESHA, WI—Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez released the following statement on the news that President Donald Trump is preparing to visit the Chippewa Valley on Friday to tout his “support” for Wisconsin farmers:
“President Trump coming to the Chippewa Valley to tout his support for Wisconsin farmers is like an arsonist showing up to the fire with a garden hose.
Trump and Congressman Tom Tiffany have raised costs for farmers and created the kind of chaos and uncertainty that makes it nearly impossible to plan a season, let alone run a business. Our farmers are paying more for fuel and fertilizer, losing export markets, and getting squeezed from every direction.
I grew up with dairy farmers in my family. I know what it means to work that hard and need your government to show up for you. Trump and Tiffany haven’t done that. And a Friday visit doesn’t change a thing about their record. Wisconsin farmers deserve so much better – and as governor, I’m going to fight for them every single day.”
