Democratic and progressive groups — including the 3rd Congressional District Democrats of Wisconsin, the Eau Claire County Democratic Party, the Chippewa County Democratic Party, and Chippewa Valley Indivisible — will be protesting President Donald Trump’s visit to Eau Claire on Friday, June 5.

Two protest locations are planned. The first will be at the Chippewa Falls Regional Airport, 3800 Starr Ave, from 1:45–3:15 p.m. The second will be near Custer Farms at the intersections of County Road T and both 50th Ave and 60th Ave, from 1:45–3:45 p.m. (Times are best estimates based on the scheduled arrival and are subject to change.)

Participants will call attention to the impact of current federal policies on Wisconsin families and farmers, including tariffs and trade policy, healthcare cuts, and tax legislation currently before Congress.

According to William Garcia, chair of the 3rd CD Democrats of Wisconsin, “It is particularly galling that President Trump is trying to make a pitch toward farmers, a group who is struggling under his policies. Expenses for farming have increased drastically, with diesel fuel for tractors and fertilizer prices at record highs, while the GOP’s trade wars have cut out global markets for farmers, forcing them to sell their product for significantly less money. President Trump has no business holding a rally among the farmers he has hurt so badly.”
