Tomorrow, Donald Trump will travel to Wisconsin to peddle his failed agenda — including his deadly and costly war with Iran that has driven up the costs of gas, diesel, and fertilizer for Wisconsin farmers. Meanwhile, Trump has pushed prices even higher while slashing healthcare and food assistance benefits, making it nearly impossible for families in Wisconsin to make ends meet.

Even before Trump started his war with Iran, Wisconsin farmers were already struggling under Trump

  • A staggering 16 family farms in Wisconsin filed for bankruptcy in Trump’s first year, up 700% from the previous year.
  • Wisconsin farmers were already facing “historic highs” for fertilizer costs from Trump’s tariffs, eroding their profits and preventing them from building up a stockpile of fertilizer.
    • On top of that, 48% of farmers in the Midwest said they could not afford all needed supplies, and nearly one in three said they were entering the season without securing all of their fertilizer needs.
  • Trump’s unhinged trade war locked farmers out of their markets completely, causing family farms to go bankrupt at the highest rate in five years in 2025, spiking by 46% from 2024, alongside record-high farm debt.
  • Because of Trump’s war with Iran, Trump’s own USDA forecasts that food prices will increase 3.4% in 2026, far higher than the 2.9% they estimated in April.
    • Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins admitted USDA’s proposal to expand domestic fertilizer production wouldn’t take effect until “the next year to two years.”

Trump’s failing economy is devastating Wisconsin families

  • The average price of a gallon of gas today in Wisconsin is $4.04, and diesel is $5.38 because of Trump’s war with Iran.
  • Wisconsin’s unemployment rate has shot up under Trump, with job cuts totaling over 5,600.
    • Wisconsin has lost 8,900 manufacturing jobs since Trump took office.
  • The average Wisconsin family has shelled out an extra $2,267 since January 2025 because of Trump’s inflation, caused in large part by his reckless tariffs.

Trump’s historic cuts to healthcare and food assistance stripped Wisconsinites of programs they rely on

  • Because of Trump and Republicans’ massive cuts to Medicaid and refusal to extend the ACA tax credits, 110,000 Wisconsinites could become uninsured.
    • Already, more than 22,000 Wisconsinites have dropped ACA coverage.
    • Monthly premiums for some Wisconsinites have increased by 192%, or $853.
  • 14 of Wisconsin’s rural hospitals are at risk of closing, and six are at immediate risk of closing. That includes rural hospitals that are just a drive away from where Trump will be speaking.
  • Because of Trump and Republicans’ historic cuts, SNAP participation in Wisconsin has already fallen by 23,500 people and is expected to worsen.
    • This is happening at a moment when Wisconsin is seeing record-high beef prices, with steak up roughly 16% from 2025 and ground beef up more than 14%.
