Madison, WI – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) issued the following statement after seeing the Wisconsin Department of Tourism have another record-breaking year in 2025:
“As Chair of the Assembly Committee on Tourism, I was thrilled to see the strong results highlighted in the 2025 economic impact report for Wisconsin tourism. This industry not only benefits Northern Wisconsin, but also has a lasting, positive impact on communities across our entire state.
The Department of Tourism is one of the few state agencies with clearly defined goals and a proven, consistent return on investment. I commend Secretary Sayers for her outstanding leadership and work to strengthen Wisconsin’s tourism.”
In 2025, Wisconsin’s tourism industry generated a record-breaking $27 billion in economic impact, welcomed 117.9 million visits, generated $1.7 billion in state and local tax revenue, and supported more than 183,000 full- and part-time jobs.
The 74th Assembly District alone saw a 2.8% increase in tourism-related economic impact.
“The investments made in the 2025–27 state budget will help keep Wisconsin a premier destination for travelers while strengthening local economies. These numbers, combined with the continued efforts of the Department of Tourism, will help grow our tourism industry even further and deliver strong returns for years to come.”
The 2025-27 state budget included the following key investments:
- $30 million one-time in a continuing appropriation for tourism marketing.
- $147,400 and 1 position for the Office of Group Travel.
- $368,000 and 2 positions for the Office of Outdoor Recreation.
- Created a state film office to help attract film and television productions to Wisconsin.
