New London WI—Shawna Riley, a hardworking member of the Waupaca area community, is officially on the ballot for the Wisconsin State Assembly district 56, driven by a deeply personal mission to fight for better healthcare access and hold accountable the systems that contribute to poor health outcomes.

The decision to run came after Riley’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 17, an experience that exposed the challenges many Wisconsin families face when seeking affordable, accessible healthcare.

“When my daughter was diagnosed with cancer at 17, our family’s life changed forever,” said Riley. “No parent should have to watch their child suffer while also worrying about healthcare access, costs, or whether harmful products and unhealthy food systems are putting families at risk. That experience inspired me to take a stand and fight for change.”

Shawna Riley is running on a platform focused on expanding access to quality healthcare, supporting local agriculture and healthier food systems, strengthening rural communities, creating economic opportunities, protecting taxpayer dollars, and ensuring that working families have a strong voice in state government.

“For too long, many people have felt ignored by politicians who have never lived the realities they face every day,” Riley said. “I believe government works best when it’s accountable to the people it serves. My campaign is about listening to our neighbors, showing up in every community, and fighting for practical solutions that help families succeed.”

The campaign plans to engage voters throughout the district through community events, listening sessions, and direct conversations with residents.

“Whether you’re a farmer, factory worker, teacher, healthcare worker, retiree, or small business owner, your voice matters,” said Riley “Together, we can build a stronger future for Waupaca and our surrounding communities, where families have access to the healthcare they need and can trust that their leaders are fighting for their well-being.”
