State Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa has decided against challenging Rep. Dianne Hesselbein for Assembly assistant minority leader.
Zamarripa, D-Milwaukee, declined comment to WisPolitics.com on why she decided to drop her bid for the Assembly Dems’ No. 2 leadership post.
The caucus was meeting Tuesday afternoon to elect a new minority leader after Rep. Peter Barca, D-Kenosha, stepped down from the post under pressure. Rep. Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh, is the only announced candidate for the post.
Hesselbein, D-Middleton, is in her first term as assistant leader.

“I’m just looking forward to continue serving as assistant minority leader,” Hesselbein said.
