NORTHERN WI. Today, Clark for Wisconsin launched “Where’s Alfonso” – a new effort to draw the Trump-endorsed GOP contender for Wisconsin’s 7th district out of hiding and into living up to his commitment to debate Fred Clark. Alfonso agreed to a debate with Clark on May 5, 2026. As part of this new effort, Clark released the following video

In early May, Trump DOT Secretary Sean Duffy’s son-in-law posted a blatant lie on his Facebook campaign page claiming his 7th CD opponent – experienced legislator, hunter and gun owner Fred Clark – “hates the Second Amendment.” But Michael Alfonso has no clue how Clark feels about the Second Amendment or how deep Clark’s conservationist roots go. That’s because Alfonso has been dodging public debates and forums, choosing to let his corporate-fueled Super PAC cash speak on his behalf as he’s hidden behind their slick, polished ads.

“Voters in Northern Wisconsin are looking for independent representatives who will listen to them, look them in the eye, and answer hard questions,” says Clark. “In my years representing rural communities in public service, I have always sought to do that, even when we didn’t agree. If Michael wants to be considered to serve in Congress, it’s past time for him to answer questions and share his beliefs and qualifications to represent Northern Wisconsin.”

Thinking Alfonso might be ready to come out from hiding behind his big-name backers, Clark challenged Alfonso to a debate and Alfonso responded, “Fred Clark, I’d love to. You have my number.” Clark replied, “Alright Michael, we will be in touch.”

For almost two months, Clark’s campaign has made multiple attempts to reach the Alfonso campaign via phone and email. Those efforts have been met with silence. That led to the creation of this website, seeking help from residents of the 7th Congressional District in getting Alfonso to live up to his word and debate Fred Clark.

In the ensuing weeks, Alfonso continued his practice of refusing to appear alongside his Republican primary opponents, causing at least one frustrated organizer to stage an empty chair as a stand-in to represent Alfonso.

However, it came to light that Alfonso had been road tripping across the country with his father in-law Sean Duffy on a corporate and taxpayer funded road trip that drew wide condemnation and an ethics complaint. Meanwhile, folks in the Northwoods watch gas prices climb, hurting tourism and their own summer plans.

“People up here are tired of politicians who say one thing and then do another – it’s the reason so many people are losing faith in government.,” says Clark. Serving in Congress is a big job and an incredible honor, but anyone who wants this job needs to be willing to stand up and account for themselves to the voters who they intend to work for.”

That can’t happen, however, unless the people of Northern Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District can get to the bottom of the mystery: “Where’s Alfonso?”
