Madison – Representative Barbara Dittrich (R – Oconomowoc) released the following statement in response to the United States’ Supreme Court ruling upholding Idaho’s and West Virginia’s protections of women and female sports:

“Despite Tony Evers’ repeated vetoes denying ‘The will of the people is the law of the land.’ America’s highest court today sided with women like me to preserve and protect women’s sports under the federal Title IX law. This ruling affirms the belief of an OVERWHELMING number of Americans that biological women and girls should be protected in their sports.

“I appreciate Justice Kavanaugh’s majority opinion acknowledging immutable biological differences in men and women, thus leading to safety risks for women and girls and making it competitively unfair for biological females to compete in athletics.

“As the author of the Save Women’s Sports Act for the last three consecutive legislative sessions, I am hopeful that we can see this legislation signed into law to protect Wisconsin’s women and girl athletes.”
