MADISON, WI – July 1st marks the beginning of Wisconsin’s new expanded postpartum medicaid coverage. Wisconsin mothers on Medicaid are now eligible for 12 months of postpartum healthcare coverage. This bipartisan bill will benefit thousands of Wisconsin women, passed both legislative chambers by wide margins, and will save lives in our state.

Wisconsin’s 5th State Senate district has a choice this fall between State Representative Robyn Vining, who led the fight for expanded postpartum care in the Assembly, and Mike Roberts, a MAGA Republican who has clearly stated he is opposed to expanding medicaid coverage for Wisconsinites.

SSDC Communications Director Will Karcz on the choice voters in the 5th Senate District have this November:

“As parents across Wisconsin breathe a sigh of relief knowing postpartum healthcare coverage has been expanded to a full year, voters in the 5th district are faced with a choice between Rep. Robyn Vining, who has a detailed record of fighting for Wisconsin mothers and played a pivotal role in the expansion of postpartum care, and Mike Roberts who argues that Medicaid has “already been expanded” and “we need to focus” elsewhere. The choice this November is simple: a vote for Robyn Vining is a vote for creating a Wisconsin that cares for new mothers and ensures our young families can afford to grow.”
