Dem gubernatorial candidate Sara Rodriguez has announced a $1 million TV buy, her first significant paid media effort ahead of the Aug. 11 primary.
The new buys come five weeks before the primary and will likely be on the airwaves while a new Marquette University Law School Poll is in the field. The school announced today its next poll of state voters will be released July 22.
Rodriguez opens the ad walking through a hospital setting saying, “When shit goes sideways, you call a nurse.” The expletive is bleeped out.
Rodriguez goes on to say she was a nurse in one of the busiest emergency rooms in America before becoming lieutenant governor. As governor, she’d take on the drug and health insurance companies “ripping you off,” stop “Tom Tiffany and Trump’s Medicaid cuts” and offer a public option that lowers healthcare premiums.

“As a nurse, you listen and fight for people, and that’s exactly what I’ll do as governor,” Rodriguez says to close the spot.
