“Forward Latino has long opposed immigration enforcement actions conducted in courthouses and other sensitive locations because they erode public trust in our justice system, discourage victims and witnesses from coming forward, and undermine the fair administration of justice.

We continue to call for clear, consistent local and federal policies that prohibit enforcement actions in these sensitive locations except under the most extraordinary circumstances.

We remain deeply concerned by this case, the verdict and its underlying motivations. Efforts from one branch of government designed to intimidate or influence members of the judiciary raise serious concerns about the constitutional separation of powers and the independence of our courts, principles that are fundamental to our democracy and the rule of law.

We recognize and appreciate the Court’s acknowledgment of Judge Hannah Dugan’s decades of dedicated public service and meaningful contributions to both our community and our nation.

Forward Latino remains committed to defending an independent judiciary, protecting due process, and advocating for policies that ensure every person can seek justice through our courts without fear, intimidation, or unnecessary barriers.”
