We are deeply concerned by reports of increased ICE activity in Milwaukee, and we wish to condemn in the strongest terms the hateful, lawless, and deadly raids and detentions being used as tools of terror against our immigrant neighbors both locally and across the country.
While few would argue against enforcement aimed at dangerous individuals with criminal records, the hasty, indiscriminate, and racially-motivated actions of ICE and the Trump administration relating to immigration make it clear this is not their priority.

The Youth Council also urges the Milwaukee Common Council to ensure that recently passed laws prohibiting the use of masks by law enforcement and prohibiting the use of City property for the staging of immigration enforcement activities are strictly enforced.
We further encourage the Youth of Milwaukee to be aware and to investigate how to safely get involved in standing up for the rights and dignity of our fellow Milwaukeeans. Voces de la Frontera’s youth-focused group, Youth Empowered in the Struggle, is an excellent resource and a great place to start.
Let us, as the next generation, lead by example and begin building the more just and compassionate world we hope to inherit today.
