Today, Mandela for Wisconsin is launching a six-figure paid media campaign with its first ad, “The Wisconsin Way.” The TV spot will run on broadcast and cable in the Milwaukee media market in the run-up to the primary on August 11.

In the ad, Mandela rejects the broken ‘Washington Way,’ Trump and the politicians from both parties who have let our middle class get whittled down to nothing, while billionaires have sent jobs overseas and gotten richer than ever before. Instead, Mandela pledges to get things done the ‘Wisconsin Way.’

Growing up in the heart of the 53206 zip code—the state’s poorest—Lt. Governor Barnes knows what it’s like to live paycheck-to-paycheck. The son of a proud union household, he’s running for Governor to create more good middle class jobs and bring down prices, so that middle class families aren’t struggling to get by.

As governor, Barnes will tax the rich and make billionaires and out-of-state corporations pay their fair share so we can pass universal childcare and cut taxes for middle-class families. He will also take on greedy utility companies and freeze rates, so that Wisconites stop getting slammed by sky-high electric bills.  Finally, he’ll expand Badgercare and create a public option so Wisconsinites have an affordable health insurance option.

Impossible Until It’s Done, an outside group backing Mandela Barnes, started their $500,000 TV ad campaign along with their six-figure statewide digital buy.

TRANSCRIPT:

Customer 1: Groceries have damn near doubled.

Customer 2: Yeah, you should see my utility bill.

Customer 3: Yeah, we’re getting squeezed from all sides and it seems like no one’s doing anything about it.

Mandela Barnes: Trust me, I get it. I grew up paycheck-to-paycheck. I know exactly what it’s like when one bill can throw everything off.

We’re all tired of Trump and the Washington Way. The chaos. The corruption. The billionaires that call all the shots.

I’m running for Governor to lower costs, to expand BadgerCare, freeze utility rates, and make government work for working people—because that’s the Wisconsin Way.
