EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Opportunity Wisconsin, in partnership with Stache Bike & Adventure, Americans for Healthy Families, and Climate Power, will host a free community bike tune-up event tomorrow morning at Phoenix Park in Eau Claire. Trained mechanics will provide basic tune-up services, including tire inflation, brake adjustments, and general assessments, at no cost to attendees. For more complex repairs, community members can receive guidance and rough estimates for future work.

The event comes as gas prices and high energy costs continue to strain household budgets across Wisconsin and the country. Policies backed by the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress continue to send prices soaring, peaking at more than $4.50 per gallon, forcing families to make tough budget choices. To make matters worse, Congress slashed support for renewable energy infrastructure projects last year by passing the Republican Tax Law, with the support of Congressman Derrick Van Orden.

Policies backed by the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress have raised costs for Wisconsin families by $2,035 per household through the first half of 2026.

For many Eau Claire residents biking is a practical alternative to driving, but only if their bikes are road-ready. Saturday’s event gives the community a free resource to make that possible.
