Superior, WI — Congressional candidate Niina Baum has completed her 400 Miles for WI-07 bike tour, arriving in Superior on Saturday July 17th after riding through nine counties and more than twenty communities across northern Wisconsin over nine days.

Baum departed Rhinelander on July 8th and rode through Oneida, Vilas, Iron, Price, Ashland, Bayfield, Sawyer, Washburn, and Douglas counties, averaging approximately 40 miles per day. Communities along the route included Rhinelander, Hazelhurst, Minocqua, Woodruff, Manitowish Waters, Boulder Junction, Mercer, Fifield, Park Falls, Butternut, Mellen, Marengo, Ashland, Cable, Hayward, Minong, Gordon, Solon Springs, and Superior.

“I have spent nearly my entire life in this district. I know it better than any other candidate in this race. But knowing a place and showing up for it are two different things. This tour was about slowing down, meeting people where they are, listening to what they need, and making sure they know their representative will always do the same,” said Baum.

The tour served as both a campaign milestone and a listening tour, with Baum meeting with research organizations, small business owners, manufacturers, recreation organizations, healthcare workers, and community members throughout the route.

Among the most significant stops was a visit to the UW-Trout Lake Station, where Baum learned that federal funding from the National Science Foundation is increasingly being redirected toward artificial intelligence and away from natural science research, a development she called deeply concerning for Wisconsin’s freshwater research legacy and the communities that depend on it.

Baum also attended Fifield’s 150th anniversary celebration, and made an unexpected appearance at the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, where comedian and Wisconsin icon Charlie Berens was performing in front of approximately 1,500 people. After Baum offered him a beer from the audience, Berens came off the stage and walked to her to collect it. With his microphone still in hand, Berens gave Baum the opportunity to introduce herself, share that she was biking 400 miles through the district, and voice her opposition to AI data centers.

Baum’s campaign is funded entirely without corporate PAC money. Baum has spent under $25,000 on her entire campaign while her opponents have millions behind them.

“Running for office should not be about who runs the biggest and most expense ad campaigns,” said Baum. “It should be about who truly cares about the district, their ideas, and how they will represent the people. I hope this bike tour demonstrated my commitment to authentically representing the people here.”

Baum is running in the August 11th Republican primary for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District. She was the first candidate in the district to secure ballot access and has pledged to accept no corporate PAC money.
