MADISON, Wis. (July 20, 2026) – Urban Triage welcomed 125 community leaders, supporters and changemakers to The Golden Hour: Reclaiming Our Crown on Sunday, celebrating Black excellence and recognizing two individuals whose work has strengthened Madison’s Black community through storytelling, advocacy and representation.

During the event’s “Crowning” ceremony, Urban Triage presented the Reclaiming Our Voice Award to Bianca Martin, host of the City Cast Madison podcast, and The Golden Voice of Truth Award to executive editor Rob Chappell and reporter Omar Waheed on behalf of Madison365. Together, the awards recognized not only their individual leadership, but the lasting impact their organizations have had in ensuring Black voices, experiences and achievements are seen, heard and valued.

Held at The Madison Club, the gala-style brunch brought together community members, leaders and advocates for an afternoon centered on celebration, connection and investment in the future of Madison’s Black community. An incredible $50,000 in proceeds from the event support Urban Triage’s year-round programs, resources and advocacy that help Black families and communities thrive, including their Youth Employment Program, Supporting Healthy Black Agriculture Program and Specialty Crop Hemp Program.

“We are still catching our breath,” said Brandi Grayson, CEO of Urban Triage. “Still feeling the warmth, the music, the food, the energy of something so much bigger than an event. A moment this community will carry for years to come. Thank you to everyone who participated. You reminded us why this work matters and why Urban Triage exists.”

For Urban Triage, events like The Golden Hour are an important extension of its mission. While the organization is known for addressing urgent community needs, it also believes that celebrating achievement, leadership and cultural excellence is essential to building a stronger, more connected community. Publicly recognizing Black leaders helps create visibility for future generations while reinforcing the value of investing in Black-led institutions and voices.
