TOWN OF ELBA — Beef farmer, auctioneer, and Republican candidate for Secretary of State Nate Pollnow filed a motion to intervene in a Dane County case in order to prevent a change in Wisconsin’s absentee ballot voting rules that would essentially allow voters who have already completed the absentee ballot voting process and returned their completed ballot to re-vote their ballot and change their vote if their candidate of choice drops out before Election Day. 

“The law is simple: you get one vote, and I won’t stand by and let Democrats or anyone else play games with our elections or administer our elections contrary to the law,” Nate said. “I appreciate the judge taking the time to hear both sides of the argument.”

Nate is the sole named party on a motion to intervene in the lawsuit brought by three Democrat voters, but no doubt with the support of the Wisconsin State Democratic Party. As a former Town of Elba Board Chairman, Nate understands how difficult it would be for town clerks to manage a situation where every voter that wants to change their mind can vote again.

Furthermore:

  • There is no law that allows a voter to obtain another absentee ballot after the voter has already submitted the completed ballot to the clerk.
  • Clerks are required by law to securely seal all returned absentee ballots upon their return and not break that seal until election day.
  • There are no rules, regulations, or safeguards to ensure that a person who may request to destroy a previously submitted absentee ballot in order to revote, is actually the person who voted that absentee ballot or his or her designated agent.
