MADISON, WI. — This summer, a report from the Center for American Progress found that federal Republican policies increased the cost of living for Wisconsin families by between $2,000 and $3,500 in eighteen months since the start of Trump’s second term.
Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:
“While families struggle to make ends meet, federal Republicans have used their majority to directly increase costs. Due to the war in Iran, cuts to clean energy tax credits, and Trump’s illegal tariffs, the average Wisconsin household has already been charged an additional $2,035 for gas, electricity, and basic goods. By the end of 2026, this projected cost is $3,168. For families with healthcare through the Affordable Care Act, this projected total is an overwhelming $6,128.
“Wisconsin’s federal delegation of Republican leaders including Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (WI- 05), and Rep. Tom Tiffany (WI-07) have acted as a rubber stamp for Trump’s disastrous policies whims, and Wisconsin families are facing the price tag for their poor choices.

“It is far past time for our state’s federal representation to put the needs of Wisconsin families before their own partisan loyalty. I call upon our Republican legislators to oppose Trump’s tariffs, end his exorbitant war in Iran, and reinstate affordable energy investments instead of continuing to destroy the budgets of American families.”
