Madison, WI – Students for Life of America (SFLA) announced the release of a peer-reviewed study,
finding detectable amounts of mifepristone, an anti-progesterone synthetic steroid hormone, in water
sources. This chemical, used in medication-induced abortions, could have negative impacts on
reproductive health for individuals exposed to it through a contaminated water supply. Mifepristone has
been found at up to 41 parts per trillion in water tested upstream and downstream of water treatment
facilities in three different cities. This constitutes levels higher than the EPA deems safe for drinking
water and is ten times more than the EPA’s limitation of 4 parts per trillion for PFAS.
In response to the discrepancy between PFAS standards and the lack of standards for mifepristone,
Representative Lindee Brill (R-Sheboygan Falls) released the following statement:
“Although I am appalled by the levels of mifepristone detected in water sources, as revealed by the SFLA
study, it does not come as a surprise. Because I suspected that mifepristone proliferates our water supply,
last legislative session, I introduced Assembly Bill 718: the Clean Water for All Life Act. This was

designed to protect our water supply from these endocrine-disrupting chemicals used in medication-
induced abortions. However, I was met with intense pushback in the fight to secure clean water for

Wisconsinites. When forced to choose which god is more important, abortion or the environment, the
Democratic Party chooses abortion. Their idolatrous devotion to callously killing unborn children does
not waver, even in the face of environmental and health concerns. Amid this evil, I will continue to force
the conversation surrounding the disgusting proliferation of mifepristone in our water and propose
solutions that ensure clean water for all. It is the ugly impulse of democrats to shy away from this topic
since it further sullies the image of their beloved abortion. However, it is imperative that we remain
vigilant in the fight to provide a healthy environment for our citizens and wildlife. As a result, I stand
with Students for Life of America in asking the EPA to add the Forever Chemicals in Chemical Abortion
Pills to the contaminants tracker.”
