Wednesday, August 8 – Today, Wisconsin Electoral Socialists (“WES”) announced its endorsement of Josh Mittness for Wisconsin Assembly District 50, which includes Green County and southwest portions of Dane County. Mittness is in a competitive three-way Democratic primary in the seat vacated by Representative Jenna Jacobson (D).
Mittness has been active in local politics since high school and is a longtime resident of the region. Mittness has pledged to fight to improve the lives of working-class Wisconsinites in his district and throughout the state by fighting for affordability, progressive taxation, and to improve carceral, healthcare and childcare systems. while strengthening union rights and power. He believes in single-payer healthcare, fully-funded public school from pre-K through university, and expanding public transportation in rural areas and throughout the entire state. He is also strongly committed to improving access to affordable housing and raising taxes on the extremely wealthy in order to benefit the state as a whole and improve public services.
Wisconsin Electoral Socialists (WES) is a membership organization founded in February of 2024, dedicated to supporting and campaigning for socialist and aligned candidates in Wisconsin. Mittness submitted a detailed questionnaire to WES and was interviewed by WES members prior to endorsement. Wisconsin’s 2026 primary election is set for Tuesday, August 11th.
WES is committed to publicly and materially supporting the campaigns of its endorsed candidates. WES will be adding Mittness to their fundraising efforts for the remainder of this campaign cycle.
